Spot Ethanol Prices Up at Argo, West Coast on Tight Supply

Chicago and California prompt delivered ethanol prices rose in early trade Thursday amid continued supply tightness while product in New York Harbor and Dallas eased.

Traders said rising export demand and limited railcar capacity for shipment also boosted ethanol values, which, in turn, helped narrow the fuel's discount to gasoline. FOB prompt ethanol barge at the New York Harbor was talked at a $2.27 to $2.35 per gallon bid/ask spread, down 3.0 cents on the day, while prompt ethanol transfer at the Argo supply hub near Chicago was talked at a $2.12 to $2.18 per gallon bid/ask for a gain of 4.0 cents.
