Weekly Data showing Lower Output Supports Ethanol Prices

Spot ethanol prices advanced in a thinly-traded early session Friday as federal data showing a drop in weekly domestic ethanol production added to supply concerns. The EIA data also showed demand improved during the week-ended Dec. 20. Prompt ethanol barge at the New York Harbor traded at $2.35 per gallon, up 5 cents on the day, while prompt Argo ethanol was notionally pegged at a $2.25 to $2.30 per gallon bid/ask, up 2.5 cents. Dec. 31 transfer at Argo traded at $2.21 per gallon. Northern California spot ethanol prices were seen at $2.61 per gallon, up a penny.
