Supply Shortage Tied to Logistics Boost Ethanol Prices
Spot ethanol prices advanced slightly at the New York Harbor and Argo supply terminal near Chicago, boosted by supply shortages a day after the Christmas holiday. Today transfer Argo ethanol was last seen at a $2.21 to $2.25 per gallon bid/ask, up 1.0 cent, while any-December prices traded $2.21 per gallon. Prompt NYH was seen at a $2.30 to $2.32 per gallon bid/ask, up 1.5 cents.
"I would say the lack of railcars and short supply due to logistics has the paper (ethanol) market concerned," said one trader. "It's super quiet," said another trader.
