Rising Ethanol Supplies Press Spot Ethanol Prices Lower
Spot ethanol prices fell in the Chicago and New York trading hubs in early afternoon trade Wednesday after federal data showed U.S. ethanol supplies climbed to a 13-week high while implied demand stayed steady and domestic production remained near a two-year high. December ethanol barge at the New York Harbor was offered at a $2.30 gallon, down 3.0 cents on the session; prompt ethanol at Argo hub near Chicago traded at $2.095 through $2.105 gallon, reflecting a 3.0 cent loss on the day.
