Most Spot Ethanol Prices Lifted by Expectations for Supply Draw

U.S. ethanol spot prices were discussed lower along the West Coast but traded slightly higher in Chicago and other regional hubs ahead of weekly U.S. inventory report due out Wednesday morning.

The report for the week-ended July 26 is expected to show a drawdown for nationwide ethanol stocks, but West Coast supplies are projected to have increased with imports from Brazil.

"I am expecting a draw ... it just seems like plants are slowing down and gasoline demand wasn't horrible last week," said one trader. This week delivered Argo spot ethanol traded $2.235 gallon today versus $2.22 gallon traded Monday.
