U.S. spot ethanol prices were mixed during a very quiet trade session early Tuesday, with Chicago prices down amid expectation weekly supply data due Wednesday would show domestic production and total inventories probably rose last week after falling prior weeks.

Sources said ethanol profitability is up and the upcoming summer peak driving season should boost demand for blending. "I think production will be up a bit and inventory may edge up slightly," said a source.
