Spot Ethanol Prices Drop as Supply Increases, Demand Eases
Spot ethanol prices traded lower in Chicago and New York after federal supply data detailed increases in total inventories and production of the blendstock by plants around the nation. Prompt delivered ethanol traded at $2.44 gallon at the Argo hub near Chicago while changing hands at $2.615 gallon in the New York Harbor.
The Energy Information Administration reported U.S. ethanol stocks nudged up 100,000 bbl to 17.6 million bbl in the week-ended April 19 as domestic production rose 2.5% from a week prior. Implied demand fell 20,000 bpd or 2.3% to 833,000 bpd for the week, EIA data showed.
