Spot Ethanol Prices Lifted by Corn Gains, Tight Supply
Spot ethanol prices rose in early trade Tuesday, rebounding with gains for Chicago Board of Trade corn futures amid speculation Monday's sell-off was overdone, prompting short-covering. Sources said trade volume remained thin in the physical ethanol market, with swaps activity attracting the most attention. Concerns about tight ethanol supply ahead of Wednesday's weekly inventory data also boosted spot ethanol. May delivered New York Harbor barges changed hands at $2.55 gallon, while April barges bid at $2.57 gallon, up 1.0 so far on the day.
