Spot Ethanol Higher in California on Tight Regional Supply

Spot ethanol along the West Coast were boosted in early trade by concern over tightening supply, with trade sources linking the shortages to a temporary decrease in imports from Brazil.

Federal data yesterday showed ethanol imports dropped last week to 27,000 bpd from 52,000 bpd for the prior week, with about 18,000 bpd of those received along the West Coast.

In recent months, low carbon sugar-based ethanol imports from Brazil have partially displaced supply from the Midwest.
