Supply Data Settles Little as Cash Ethanol Trades Mixed
Spot ethanol prices were shallowly mixed Friday as the market had muted reaction to federal data showing U.S. ethanol inventories were drawn down last week along with lower output from plants around the nation.
The Energy Information Administration detailed a 102,000 bbl draw in domestic ethanol inventories to 20.213 million bbl for the week ended Dec. 28, while output fell 27,000 bpd or 3.2% to 807,000 bpd. Implied demand for ethanol was down 72,000 or 8.5% to 778,000 bpd for the week.
Ethanol at the Argo hub traded at $2.18 gallon, down 0.5 cents, while New York Harbor spot prices held steady at $2.18 gallon.
