Spot Ethanol Prices Buoyed by Higher CBOT Corn Futures
Spot ethanol prices rose early Friday in thin trade, lifted by modest gains for Chicago Board of Trade corn futures despite uncertainty about the fiscal cliff in the United States.
The ethanol market has been depressed most of this week because of excess supply and soft demand. Prompt ethanol at the Argo hub was talked at $2.19 to $2.23 gallon bid/ask, with New York Harbor trading at $2.32 gallon. On the West Coast, prompt Arizona ethanol trading at $2.335 gal while California prices talked at $2.35 gallon.
