Cash Ethanol Buoyed by Bullish Forecast on Fundamentals

U.S. spot ethanol prices moved higher early Friday after the U.S. Department of Agriculture this morning issued a report estimating domestic corn production at a six-year low and yields at a 17-year low.

Analyst Brendan Marshall added that wet weather in South America could curtail corn planting there, which could reduce ethanol production by Argentina and Brazil and prompt those countries to import ethanol from the United States, thereby boosting domestic ethanol prices.
