The European Union's approval of Agrisure Vipterra MIR-162 has opened the door for trade of U.S. dried distillers grains with solubles and corn gluten feed, according to an article by the U.S. Grains Council (http://bit.ly/…).

USGC Senior Region Director Cary Sifferath said that within a few days of the approval, purchases of corn gluten feed and soybean meal were made by a Portuguese buyer. Sifferath attributed that sale to the MIR-162 approval.

One Portuguese feed miller told the Council that he had been waiting for the approval for months and was finally able to purchase some U.S. corn gluten feed this year. The buyer added that the purchase was not without many restrictions and contract clauses, but said he hopes the MIR-162 approval will alleviate some of the red tape.
