School Rejects Ethanol Firm's Offer on Investment

The Cornell, Wis. school board Monday rejected an offer from Ace Ethanol of Stanley, Wis. to use money from a $1.1 million school employee retirement insurance fund to invest in the company, according to the Eau Claire Leader Telegram in Eau Claire, Wis.

Currently the fund is earning 3.7 percent interest. Ace Ethanol offered a 12.5 percent return on what would have been about a $100,000 investment.

School board member Eileen Sikora cast the lone vote to consider loaning money to the plant.
