EERC to Start $7 Million Expansion for Hydrogen Research

The University of North Dakota's Energy and Environmental Research Center is set to embark on a $7 million project to expand its hydrogen laboratory, according to the Grand Forks Herald in Grand Forks, N.D.

The recently completed National Center for Hydrogen Technology needs more room for more research projects, focusing on renewable fuels. The funding for the expansion comes from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Tom Erickson, the EERC’s associate director of research, said there likely will be more research on renewable jet fuels and gasoline, the conversion of coal into diesel fuel and the conversion of liquid fuels, such as ethanol, into hydrogen.
