Methane-to-Methanol Technology for Sale

Inventor Walter Breidenstein said he hopes to sell his GasTechno technology that converts methane into a variety of fuels, according to WWJ News Radio 950 in Southfield, Mich.

Breidenstein said there is an increased interest in methane-to-methanol technology, including an $11 million center being developed at the University of Virginia.

In addition, Dow Chemical issued challenge grants to Cardiff and Northwestern universities to accomplish the direct oxidation of methane to methanol.

Methanol can be used in gasoline blends up to 10 to 15 percent without changing gasoline engines, and it can be used alone as a fuel.
