Ethanol Bounces Back after Tough Year

After a year of crippling high corn prices and low ethanol prices, the ethanol industry is begging a road to recovery, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reported. A year ago, the industry was struggling as many plants either stopped production, shut their doors or filed for bankruptcy. Those plants that did survive the crisis made little profit. Now, cheaper corn, rising oil prices and smarter business decisions are finding the ethanol industry back on an upturn once again.

DTN: Even though ethanol plants may not be on the skyrocketing profit trend they once experiencing, profit margins are looking better and ethanol is once again profitable. Analysts in the industry now believe the ethanol has stabilized, which is good news not only for the ethanol plants and their employees, but for the communities and states in which they are located and for farmers from which the plants purchase corn. Many experts predict that oil supplies will significantly tighten in the years ahead due to increased demand from China and India as well as continuing depletion of existing oil fields around the world. More oil demand with less oil supply should help ethanol establish a firm position in the liquid fuel market. When we don't have enough oil to go around, we will be thankful for every drop of ethanol we produce. Another one of the Real Benefits of Ethanol!
