KC Star: 'Time to end Ethanol tax Credit'

An editorial in the Kansas City Star Monday called on the federal government to end the 45-cent blenders tax credit, saying that Congress "tried to create a charmed life for ethanol and Midwestern corn growers in recent years."

The Star said the credit is no longer needed because the U.S. government has mandated the production and use of ethanol, as a result of the Renewable Fuels Standard.

The editorial cites a Government Accountability Office report issued last week that questioned the need for the tax credit.

What a joke! Proposal may possible have a little merit. But article relies on false claims meant to stir up opposition to ethanol.

I prefer ethanol credits for all ethanol production rather than seeing Chavez using his American oil profits to by Russian Weapons.

The tax credit has outlived its usefulness. Besides, according to the ethanol crowd the Big Oil blenders keep most of it anyway. Why should we be subsidizing them?
