USDA: Show Will Go On

OMAHA (DTN) -- USDA's Cattle on Feed and Cold Storage reports will be released as scheduled on Friday at 2 p.m. CT despite a mammoth blizzard bearing down on the nation's capital.

Staff at USDA's National Agriculture Statistics Service survey told DTN they're prepared to release everything on time, regardless of the weather. If there are any changes, NASS will post a notice on their website, www.nass.usda.gov.

DTN Senior Ag Meteorologist Bryce Anderson said heavy snow and ice is expected to hit Washington, D.C. during the day on Friday.

"A blizzard warning covers the entire D.C. metro area from Friday afternoon through early Sunday morning," Anderson said. "Snowfall of at least two FEET -- 24 inches -- is pegged for the city of Washington, D.C. with some outlying areas in line for as much as 30 inches. Add to the snow northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph, and the mid-Atlantic area will have conditions rivaling some of the historic Great Plains blizzards."
