OMAHA (DTN) -- Snow in the eastern and southern Midwest, rain in the Southeast, and mixed conditions in Brazil and Argentina are items for the attention of Tuesday's commodity market.
Eastern Midwest Seeing Snowfall
Snow will cover the eastern Midwest Tuesday. Amounts will be mostly light; however, some areas near the Great Lakes could take in more than 6 inches. Snow and cold winds will cause some transportation disruptions. A winter storm warning covers the area from Iowa to the East Coast.
The western Midwest saw scattered snow showers Monday, although some southern and eastern areas had as much as 3 to 6 inches. Tuesday will see only light snow showers in eastern and southern areas of the western Midwest. Temperatures are averaging below normal, and wind is high.
Rain in Southeast
Thunderstorms are dropping rain in the southeastern U.S., with dry and cold conditions elsewhere. Some parts of the South, from Texas through the Delta, have a flood warning, but the rainfall has passed out of that area. Farther to the southeast, rain is still contributing to possible flooding.
Favorable Showers in South America
In South America, scattered showers are indicated by satellite imagery over southern Brazil. That will help ease recent hot and dry conditions.
To the north, scattered showers developed Monday night into Tuesday. Those showers are expected to continue for several days. Temperatures are trending above normal in northern areas.
Argentina is dry. Forecast models still indicate rain for Argentina's central crop belt later this week. Temperatures are above normal to the north and cooler to the south.
