EIA: Domestic Ethanol Production, Stocks Declined Last Week

OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) -- Overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.056 million barrels per day (bpd) in the week ended April 5, down 17,000 bpd week-on-week and 97,000 bpd, or 9.2%, higher than in the same week last year, the Energy Information Administration reports. Four-week average output at 1.057 million bpd was 66,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.008 million bpd, down 15,000 bpd week-on-week and 96,000 bpd, or 9.5%, higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.008 million bpd was 63,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.

Ethanol blending activity in the U.S. averaged 886,000 bpd, down 7,000 bpd week-on-week and 5,000 bpd, or 0.6%, lower than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 881,000 bpd was 6,000 bpd below the same four weeks last year.

Blender inputs at the East Coast were down 5,000 bpd in the week while inputs in the Midwest were up 2,000 bpd, up 4,000 bpd on the Gulf Coast and down 8,000 bpd on the West Coast.

Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 26.208 million barrels (bbl), down 208,000 bbl week-on-week and 1.08 million bbl, or 4.1%, higher than in the same week last year.

East Coast PADD 1 inventories ended the week at 8.244 million bbl, down 210,000 bbl week-on-week and 649,000 bbl, or 7.9%, higher than in the same week last year.

Midwest PADD 2 inventories ended the week at 11.157 million bbl, up 110,000 bbl week-on-week and 844,000 bbl, or 7.6%, higher than in the same week last year.

Gulf Coast PADD 3 inventory ended the week at 4.202 million bbl, down 80,000 bbl week-on-week and 324,000 bbl, or 7.7%, lower than in the same week last year.

West Coast PADD 5 inventories ended the week at 2.23 million bbl, down 6,000 bbl week-on-week and 125,000 bbl, or 5.6%, lower than in the same week last year.
