As far as the grain markets go, it is now officially springtime. The March Quarterly Stocks and Prospective Plantings reports have come and gone, and with them the memory of last winter -- at least theoretically, but more on that later.

Heading into Monday's round of numbers, my thoughts were that quarterly stocks would play the starring role. And as it turned out, they did. Soybeans, as expected, led the way followed by corn and far in the distance wheat. Prospective plantings weren't overlooked entirely, as evidenced by the commercial-led rally in December corn.
