Stalking Horse Bid Wins

OMAHA (DTN) -- A U.S. bankruptcy court judge in Michigan approved the sale of Stamp Farms LLC assets -- including hundreds of unexpired farm leases -- to a stalking horse bidder after an auction held in Michigan this week attracted no additional bidders.

Steve Jakubowski, a Chicago-based attorney representing many of the some 200 unexpired lease holders in what could be the largest farm bankruptcy in U.S. history, told DTN Friday the sale could be wrapped up sometime in the next 10 days pending the judge's final approval and a valuation of the assets.
