OMAHA (DTN) -- Following its annual Midwest Crop Tour, Pro Farmer expects a U.S. corn crop of 14.093 billion bushels and a soybean crop of 3.812 billion bushels, according to a news release from the firm.

Average corn yield is estimated at 169.3 bushels per acre, while soybeans are expected to average 45.35 bpa.

"These are barely over USDA's August figure and well below what the scouts found," remarked DTN Senior Analyst Darin Newsom. "This could spark some buying interest Sunday night" when CME Globex trading resumes.
