Intervals of clouds and sun today over the eastern half of the region but expect more sun in the western portion with an upper trough swinging across the region. This trough will produce a few snow showers over western North Carolina into southwestern Virginia with that activity developing by the afternoon over south central Kentucky into middle and into eastern Tennessee and extreme northern Alabama where it will mix with rain.
