From now through this afternoon, a warm front will lift northward across the region with rain showers affecting areas generally along and north of I-40 west of the Cumberland Plateau. This evening and tonight, this area of rain showers will push eastward across southeastern Kentucky, southwestern Virginia, northeastern Tennessee and western North Carolina. Some freezing rain will occur in portions of the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.
