USDA Budget a Hot Potato

WASHINGTON (DTN) -- The Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday approved the fiscal year 2015 appropriation for the Agriculture Department with a whirlwind of amendments affecting school meals, potatoes in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for Women Infants and Children, horse slaughter, international food aid and labeling of biotech salmon.

The future of the school meal changes and the allowance for potatoes in the WIC program remains uncertain.
