The northern branch of the jet stream features a ridge over Alaska and northwest Canada extending back into northeast Siberia and a trough over central and eastern Canada extending eastward into Greenland. This is a warm pattern for far western Canada, cool/cold central, mild/cool east. The southern branch of the jet features a trough in the eastern pacific. A ridge along the west coast of the U.S. A trough over the Rockies, Plains and western Midwest and a ridge over the eastern U.S. and western atlantic.
