VENADO TUERTO, Argentina (DTN) -- "Wonderful," "fantastic" and "historic" were just some of the superlatives used to describe the corn harvest during a recent trip around Argentina's grain belt.

Ample rainfall more than compensated for the sparse investment in fertilizers used to produce record yields.

"It's been a more or less perfect year. We've never seen yields as impressive as these," said Juan Manuel Iraola, who manages 7,500 acres in and around Venado Tuerto, Santa Fe province.
