DECATUR, Ill. (DTN) -- Pete Main isn't taking any chances with western corn rootworm next year. Reports of rootworm damage to some Bt hybrids in his region of northwestern Illinois have him on alert for 2013.

"While I didn't experience any lodging on my farm, I did see higher populations of corn rootworm adults this past summer," said Main, who farms near Altona. "I'm considering switching some continuous corn acres back to soybeans and using more hybrids with dual modes of action."
