Base Acre Reallocation Begins

OMAHA (DTN) -- Landowners will be able to start updating base acres and yield history for those acres as early as Monday.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Thursday that base acres and yields can be tweaked beginning Monday at Farm Service Agency offices.

While landowners will be allowed to reallocate base acres, the 2014 Agricultural Act does not allow farmers to increase base acres. Landowners will only be allowed to shift base acres between commodities grown on the farm with the exception of cotton.
