Milk

Milk production is trending lower seasonally, but continues to remain substantially higher than last year. Milk per cow is higher as well as increased cow numbers. This trend will continue for some time due to good margins. Strong milk price is expected to continue as long as holiday and end-of-year buying remains strong. School demand is increasing the amount of milk moving to bottling. However, fluid milk demand continues to decline. Overall sales of fluid milk declined 2.2% from a year ago.
