Ethanol futures felt the impact of building pressure in corn futures Monday with prices falling 3 cents per gallon in front-month November futures. This pushed closing prices to $1.831 a gallon. Other nearby contracts posted losses of 1.9 to 2.2 cents per gallon as traders continue to focus on lower corn prices through the near future. The focus of ethanol demand has faded slightly with more emphasis on potential availability of corn and just how much additional pressure this may have in store for overall ethanol demand and potential production levels.
