CARAZINHO, Brazil (DTN) -- Brazil is on course to produce a record soybean crop in 2012-13, possibly passing the U.S. to become the world's top producer.

But just how many beans are there?

Market estimates range from 80.1 million metric tons to 84.2 mmt, a vast spread considering over half the soy has already been collected.

The reason for the disparity is contradictory information on the impact of a number of weather events this year.
