Fall Control for Weedy Fields

BOONE, Iowa (DTN) -- The last thing growers want to think about is spending more cash in 2012 crop fields. While grain yields are stunted by drought, there's a record crop of weeds in those fields ready to leave a bin-buster of a seed crop.

For farmers with weed species resistant to glyphosate and other herbicide compounds, that weed seed crop will be the unwanted harvest that keeps on giving.

That's pushing chemical companies, retailers, and a growing number of farmers to recommend fall herbicide applications.
