Midwest Crop Tour - Day 3

THOMSON, ILL. (DTN) -- Western Illinois's corn crop is well on its way to being made, scouts on the eastern leg of the Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour said Wednesday.

On a route that travelled north of Bloomington to the Sterling area before heading west, scout Paul Neiffer said July's dryness took a little of the top off the crop's potential. Still, the average corn yield was 171.7 bpa with high of 228 bpa in Bureau County and a low of 57.9 bpa in Marshall County.
