OMAHA (DTN) -- After officials in the Obama administration declined to hold a public hearing in the Midwest, a number of state leaders from Corn Belt states announced Friday they will host their own public hearing on the EPA proposal to make across-the-board cuts to the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Iowa officials announced the event will be Jan. 23 in Des Moines.

The White House, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack all declined to host such a meeting, according to a news release from Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad's office Friday.
