NEW YORK (DTN) -- Ethanol inventories in the U.S. soared last week to a 2-1/2 month high nationwide last week with supplies along the East Coast climbing to a near eight-month high, according to new government data released Wednesday.

The Energy Information Administration reported domestic ethanol inventories jumped 700,000 bbl or 4.2% to 17.2 million bbl during the week ended April 25, turning what had been a year-over-year deficit of 1.1 million bbl the week prior to a surplus of 200,000 bbl or up 1.0%.
