It is difficult to get a handle on milk production across the country due to the government shutdown. Producers I have spoken with indicate generally steady to slowly improving production. The effects continue to be felt from the last hot spell in late August into September. Demand is being met with few difficulties. Manufacturers would like more milk due to increasing cheese prices.
