Milk

Milk production in the central region of the country is not improving as would be anticipated for this time of year. Feed seems be having a large part in this. Slow growth this spring will delay harvesting of winter forage and well as first-crop hay. A number of dairies are sacrificing milk production for the sake of stretching feed supply. Rations are being balanced, but mainly to provide sufficient feed and nutrition to keep cows in good condition rather than pushing milk production. Class I demand is slipping as suppliers are looking forward to colleges and universities closing soon ...
