There has not been a fundamental change in dairy, but more likely a change in perception. Prices rose on the perception of tightening cheese and butter supply due to improving export demand and increasing world prices. Buyers were looking for product to build supply as a hedge against tighter supply later this year. Dairy products coming from New Zealand were causing concern as their drought continued.
