It appears traders in general are ready for the market to improve. Fundamentally, it is difficult to make a case for a change in trend for higher prices. However, futures contracts have been trending higher for greater than a week with an acceleration taking place today. If underlying cash prices will not support this movement by increasing, premium may come crashing out of the market again. Global prices are finding support with more aggressive buying interest on the Global Dairy Trade auction today. Butter price increased 9.6% to $4,081 mt, or $1.85 per pound.
