As usual, the government came to an agreement in the eleventh hour agreeing to extend the farm bill for one year. Initial expiration of the farm bill was in October which makes the one-year extension retroactive from that date. Some changes are being made to the dairy part of the farm bill that will be active during the extension. Despite the lack of a new farm bill, the voluntary margin insurance program would be implemented.
