Despite the country's long tradition separating church and state, I'm tempted by last week's Agricultural Outlook Forum to conclude that spirit-filled Lutherans have commandeered the economic research arm of the USDA.

Either that or Chief Economist Joseph Glauber and his zealous prognosticators are simply world-class sinners.
