GENERAL COMMENTS

Cash hog bids this morning range from steady to $1 higher with most buyers starting out with the same money they went home with on Thursday. Feedlot country is quiet in the opening rounds. Asking prices remain firm at $148-150 in the South and $240-plus in the North.

Opening call, 10-30 lower. Live contracts are set to open lower as traders await the development of cash news. Selling is linked in part to ideas that carcass value could continue to deflate through much of February. Open interest on Thursday increased to 373,622, up 3,867. Spot February ...
