GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade was dead in the water with bids undetected and asking prices existing in little more than theory (e.g., around $134 in the South and $210-$212 in the North). According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $1.86 lower ($75.00 to $78.00, weighted average $77.56). Despite the lower of the carryout, corn futures closed 1-2 cents lower, possibly pressured by further weakness in the wheat market.
