GENERAL COMMENTS:

Cattle feeding country remained quiet through the day with only a few token packer bids evident here and there. Asking prices remained firm at $125-plus in the South and $196-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $1.48 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement $81.00-98.00, weighted average $95.75. The corn market settled generally 2-3 cents higher, supported a bit by short-covering and a few signs of potential harvest delays because of wet weather.
