GENERAL COMMENTS:

Cattle country was typically quiet with buyers and sellers limiting early week work to the distribution and collection of new showlists. Ready numbers are generally smaller than last week with only Colorado offering more steers and heifers. A few producers initially priced showlists around $121-$122 in the South and $196-$197 in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $2.38 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($87.00-$100.00, weighted average $97.41).
