GENERAL COMMENTS:

The fed cattle trade was not tested Thursday with only a thin sample of bids of the table. Showlists remained firmly priced at $122 in the South and $195 to $196-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed .80 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement ($89.00-103.00, weighted average $100.35). In a final round of pre-report trading, most new-crop corn futures settle nearly a nickel lower as traders braced themselves for the possibility of bearish news.
