According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $1.01 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($95.00-$104.00, weighted average $99.94). The cash cattle arena was limited to scattered bids of $117 in the South and $190-$191 in the South. With asking prices holding firm at $122 in the South and $195 to $196-plus in the South, the chance of a real market test never seemed to be in the cards.
